FERS — Federal Employees Retirement System — is the follow-on program to the CSRS. FERS is a composite of three different retirement programs, a Defined Benefit (traditional pensions) portion, a 401K-like program of employee and employer contributions known as the TSP — Thrist Savings Plan — and ordnary Social Security Administration benefits.
