One common misconception is that the Internet is the jackpot for making money. However, that is highly incorrect. Internet businesses fail more commonly than companies with a storefront. The reason? In order to make money online, you MUST create a web presence that people want to interact with. Would you go to a site that has no graphics, and just uses simple HTML throughout the site?
Even if you don’t know what simple HTML is, I can almost assure you that you will not stay at that site for very long. One advantage of an online business is that the world is your audience. There is no traveling required. So without further adieu, I will show you the many ways of making money online. I am not promising you’ll get rich, and most certainly not quick, and you may make nothing, but these are the general ways people make money online.
1.Selling products – Just like with a storefront, you can sell items online. In most cases, you don’t even need a domain name. If you choose creating your own online store with your own domain name, you will need web hosting, email hosting, a payment processor, and some way to get noticed. If you would like to take the easier and sometimes faster method, you can use one of the following sites to sell products
eBay – eBay is a very common auction, and shopping site. With eBay you can use it’s ‘sister’ product, PayPal. PayPal is a payment processor which will take care of your customers’ credit card or bank account charging. With eBay, you do not need a website, although you can still use one. CraigsList – CraigsList is a very easy way to buy and sell things in your area. This service is dedicated to selling your products LOCALLY. In this case, you may not need to setup a Payment Processor if your customer will pick up the product. Etsy – Etsy is ‘Your place to buy and sell all things handmade’ . If you have a talent with handmade crafts, and you would like to sell them, this is your site! Etsy takes care of the Payment Processing, and they sell the items on their website.
2. Blogging – Blogging is a hard industry to make money in, but if you are passionate about blogging, and you think people would like to hear what you have to say, give it a try. The way you get paid by blogging is by advertisements, which means placing ads on your blog. There are plenty aspects of blogging that you may need to consider. If you would like to create your own ‘brand’ you can get your own domain name, and hosting, and get an open source (free) blog, for an example WordPress. Here are some options as far as the ad’s go.
Blogger – With blogger, you get everything. Blogger takes care of the hosting, and you can use your own domain name. You can use Blogger with AdSense to display ads. It’s as easy as pie!
Chitika Advertising – Chitika is an Advertising service. Chitika is not blogging software, you’ll need something like WordPress for the blog. Chitika supplies the advertisements needed to make money.
