Make Your First Dollar — With AdSense or Without

10/09/2009 by: RP

An online colleague sent me this email the other day … I will extract and comment on a couple things he sent that really are worthwhile reading.

I have a quick question for you; "Are you making money online right now?" If your answer is yes, this is great. You obviously have recognized the opportunity that lies within Internet Marketing. For those of you that are not making money online, I think I can give you some insight into why some people make money online, and why some people don’t.

Looking back, I was able to come up with a few reasons why I have become highly successful with Internet Marketing and business in general. This will give you an idea what I did to become successful, and give you the obvious path that you can follow to reach your own success.

   1. I started with a very small budget. By small, I do not mean $100/day. I didn’t have a lot of money and had to work with literally a $2-5/day advertising budget. This is not my budget now, but before I started, I had to be very calculated with my decision making and had to implement some other free techniques that I learned at Wealthy Affiliate and through research online. I truly believe that you can grow a business organically within Internet Marketing, meaning that you would dump ALL of our profits right back into advertising. As your advertising budgets grow, so will your overall revenue Start off slow, and become bigger once you have a greater understanding of why people buy online, and how to sell to these people.

   2. I understand the value of keyword and market research. Do I make all of this money because I am better than you? Absolutely not! I make money because I spend a large majority of my time doing the dirty work that many avoid doing: researching and analyzing industries and competition. By constructing a marketing agenda prior to selling (doing your research), you are much more likely to succeed. DO YOUR RESEARCH!

   3. Never quit! There have been days where I have been ready to pack up the computer, shut down my advertising campaigns, and put an end to Internet marketing all together. So why did I continue?
Well, there is an endless opportunity that I saw in Internet Marketing, and just because I had a bad day, or even a bad week, I could not let my emotions overpower the desire to become successful. I can tell you that I am glad I stuck with it!

If you can follow these three main points, you are going to be further ahead than most of other Internet Marketers out there. I truly believe that anyone can become a success online. If someone like me who came into this industry with weak Internet related skills, and not a lick of marketing knowledge, anyone can do it.
Don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

Have a great day!

Your Friend,

Another friend of mine, whom I know from both on and off line endeavors, Bob Martin, tried to help a couple friends a few months back.  They knew Bob made money on line and asked for help, so Bob offered them a personal tutorial course in “How to make their First Dollar”.

Both quit after one meeting.  Why?  because “One dollar isn’t worth wasting our time with.”

I can tell you something … as one who made his first dollar online (from Google AdSense, by the way, thank you Google for AdWords and AdSense) back in 2005 … not only is making your first dollar important, it is the key to building your online business as big as you want it to be.

You can start now .. open another window in your browser, start a blog on blogger.com, and write some articles.  But if you keep waiting because you don’t think one dollar is worth it, farewell, you will be left behind by those who grasp the true meaning of getting started.
