Aspirin Won’t Cure Your Headaches? Play A Game Instead

Just yesterday I wrote about how a man in his golden years makes tens of millions of dollars selling what is essentially a nickel-dime item with value-added features that provide an ‘aspirin’ to huge business and government headaches.  The business is nearly nothing to do with online, except that he makes very good use of a website to sell the product, avoiding huge costs in color print catalogs and other ‘old fashioned’ marketing tools.

Today I got a nice email from my friend Yaro Starak (if you’ve never read Yaro’s free Blog Profits Blueprint eBook I highly re4commend it) about a gentleman who is making $9,000 a month from his own board game … about herbs.

That sounds impossible until you dig into the claim and then you can see that a lot of the pieces I have talked about come together here … and it certainly is possible.  I’m going to let Yaro tell the story, and these are his links … I am not an affiliate for the products behind these case studies … at least not yet, that is … but I highly recommend you take a look … these are some amazing stories from people who have made money online with products that do not have to do with this narrow niche of "making money online".

Here’s the background story…

A BOARD GAME ABOUT HERBS?

If you ever had doubts about the potential to succeed online by finding a niche and creating a business around it, then Jeff Walker has a video you have to watch. …

I don’t know about you, but a board game based on herbs is not something I would ever expect could be the basis of a six figure business.

WATCH THE VIDEO

Jeff explains how our herb entrepreneur pulled off this amazing feat and breaks down the exact process he went through to launch his board game in a free video you can watch here -

NOTE - you only get the first half of the video if you don’t opt-in. I suggest you opt-in first by entering your name and email into the form, then watch the full version of the video that you can access after signing up (it’s free).  If you don’t you will have to wait for it to load twice and skip the first half after you opt-in, which is a pain - it’s a big video!

LESSONS FROM THE VIDEO

There’s some great content in the video and I recommend you take 45 minutes from you day today to watch it from start to finish.

Here’s just some of the notes I took -

    * Conducting teleseminars with experts as part of your launch process is a VERY powerful technique, especially in non-Internet marketing niches. Experts you interview will help build your list because they want to promote their interview and thus will send traffic to it, this in turn helps you sell more product. …..

I’ve told you about the power of teleseminars before.  Here’s one way to learn this important technique.

    * Having a list of buyers is 10 or 20 times more valuable than having a list of prospects.
This is the core reason people can run very successful businesses with tiny email lists - because they have a list with people who actually are interested enough in what you offer to spend money, they are not just freebie seekers.

    * Create a sense of community before the release of your product. One of the suggested methods for doing this is through blog comments and there’s some awesome examples of how John (the herb guy) did this in the video.

I’ve only touched on a few of the ideas from the video, so as you can tell this is one value packed resource. It’s worth watching regardless of whether you intend to join Jeff’s program or not.

Remember - opt-in first to get the full version so you don’t have wait for it to load twice. You can unsubscribe after opting in if the emails bug you, but I expect they won’t. Jeff’s one of the few Internet marketers I remain subscribed to because he doesn’t abuse his list.  ….

My thoughts?  I wish I had developed this.  A good friend of mine makes money online from several large gift shop sites which he uses to market a narrow but quite lucrative niche.  My friend has a list of over 7,000 people who have purchased from his shops in the past.

A few days ago he added a product (also nothing to do with making money online) that he hoped would work its way up to a few hundred dollars a month … it’s a cheap, commodity item.  After he had his online store set up he just made a simple mailing to his list of current and pas customers.  No 100-screen sales letters or any nonsensical hype like that.

Bang!  More than $500 profit in less than the first 24 hours and it is still going strong.

You can indeed make money online.  Do not tell me you can’t, because I know better.  But, most likely, you will make money in your areas of experience and expertise, not in the "make money online" niche. You are waiting for what?  the engraved invitation?
