If You Build It They Will Come? Well, Not Exactly

I just posted this on one of my other money/profit sites and I just can’t pass up the chance to add it in here too.  It’s been a long time since I have been posting regularly here and that’s because of one thing … I’ve been working … making money but working.  These are some thoughts that you should think about if you are a senior or retiree who is interested in empowering their retirement and earning money online.

I’m always looking for real world experience someone’s get rich quick pipe dreams.

One of my favorite online experts is a fellow named Andy Williams (no, not that Andy Williams, this one is a PhD who got tired of the class room and decided to teach by example).  he’s making a living by offering SEO advice, selling software (more on this below) and running his own websites while enjoying the good life on an island in the Atlantic.  Not bad.  In fact, a lot like me except I have no PhD and the island I live on, but never punch a clock on, is in the Pacific.

Anyway, this is a excerpt from an email Andy recently sent out to his subscribers that so well describes a very common malady that I felt I really needed to quote it and work some of my own thoughts into it.  Thinks the following few paragraphs through, especially if you feel you know from experience that you can’t make money online.

Last week I told you about a guy who had built a site, but nobody came.  In 9 months, he had just one sale.

He blamed Site Build It! for the site failing.  I hear this a lot, especially from people who want to buy my SEO Website Builder because they think that my site builder can miraculously get them top rankings.

I have to explain, that while a site building tool can help with linking of pages together, etc, it is not the site building tool that will ultimately decide the success or failure of a site, it is the person operating the tool.

I finished my article last week with this:

"When a site fails to get traffic, its because those pages are not visible to people looking for that information.  That is what you need to fix.  Starting again on a new site or a new system is likely to lead to failure again, because you’ll repeat the same mistakes….

Here’s a synopsis of the rest of Dr. Andy’s thoughts and mine as well.

  • Building a site is only a first step.  An important first step but just the first step none the less.
  • "Working" the site … interacting with visitors, adding new content and most importantly, Building Links and Driving Traffic to that site are necessary, no matter what6 tool you may use to build it.

Notice in my second point above I started the sentence with the word "Working".  That was a conscious choice on my part.

You absolutely can make money online, you can even make a living on line … But you can not do it without work.

Consider the richest people you know in conventional careers .. medical doctors, high-power lawyers, stock brokers, corporate CEO’s, sports stars, continue the list as far as you would care to and when you come to one where the successful person typically doesn’t have to work … you write and tell me about it … I predict few responses.

Now those of you who know me know that I am not a get rich quick guy.  But I do believe in using tools to get the job done.  In this article I have mentioned two outstanding tools, both of which are fully guaranteed to be what the package says they are, and both of which I have followed for years and strongly believe in.  If you read what I wrote above and are still ready to put in the work to succeed, check out one or both of these offers … they truly are tools that you can work with to succeed.

That’s it.  You absolutely cab earn money online, as a senior or retiree especially … empower your retirement to any degree you care to … but you’ll need to work and you’ll need tools to do the work.
