Seven Week Project — Week 3 (Underway)

Yes, I know, if there was an award for falling behind I believe I would win it … but late is one thing, giving up is another … and I am sure not giving up on this great learning project that’s inspired by Drew’s series over on www.mrgpt.com.

In the third week of the project the task was to get some useful content up on the site .. at least 7 or 8 articles or original content.

So far I’ve only written a couple blog posts and found an article or two from public sources that’s appropriate to the fiancee’ visa subject matter … but more are coming.

One important thing to note is, even though this site is tiny, and, as I mentioned when I kicked it off, the keywords I am aiming for are not heavily searched, the site is making money … there’s nothing on the site in terms of monitization except Google AdSense … but clicks have come in … and we’re talking clicks worth much closer to a dollar than a penny.

Furthermore, the site is indexed in Google … all that talk, talk, talk about the Google Sand Box and how long Google takes to index new sites is absolutely bogus if you use a WordPress blog format.  And Google is sending traffic … people searching on the pros and cons of the different types of visas, which is exactly what the small amount of content so far in place is all about.

I haven’t yet decided on additional categories aside from the basic one, K1 Information, either.  perhaps I’ll expand on them in the future, perhaps not … in my own experience if hasn’t made much difference.

You’ll also note I am not following Drew’s advice precisely … he suggests pretty much leaving AdSense off the site until it gets listed in some directories, but since I chose to use a well-optimized theme with AdSense already on board (thanks a million, DoshDosh.com) I’m just changing the built-in AdSense to my own publisher account, adding channels so I can track where clicks come from and running what I brung.  The proof is in the AdSense payment account, after all.

OK, off to ad some more good content.  I really can’t believe no one else is following along with this project … it’s an absolutely no risk way to learn the basic steps of setting up a money making site … if anyone is out there working through the weekly steps, please do touch base and let me know how things are working for you.

Also thanks a bunch to the influx of new subscribers here at Retired Pay World … it really makes my day … if you haven’t subscribed yet, just click the orange symbol in the top right corner and get all my rants, as they happen.
