Hot Links 2 January 2007

My in-box is overflowing with good info and I’m really floundering trying to keep up. Here’s a few good reads and good sources of information to keep you faithful readers happy until I get my head above water:

A lawyer’s Blog for CSRS and FERS information. Many lawyers don’t know a lot about the Federal Employee scene. This fellow does and what’s more he writes about it with meaty, useful content. Recommended

Some big changes ring in for 2007 in the TSP. Of special interest to me are changes in the rule for Federal TSP employees who are also in the Ready Reserve … a category I was in for many years. It isn’t the same old TSP any more for sure. see:

Some smart investment advice regarding the much underestimated TSP “I” (international plan). Many US investors won’t think of investing outside the US, but being an overseas retiree and watching the US dollar fall farther and farther behind many other currencies makes me think it’s pretty short-sighted not to have a mix of US and foreign ‘paper’.

A lot of folks search here for military retirement information and it’s no mean trick to always find the right answers. Especially since, in addition to the Reserve Forces retirement system there are as many as 3 different systems that apply to Active Duty members. This page helps explain and calculate the various options.

Now back to that inbox to dig up some more interesting info.
